In Yankees rumors and news today, New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira is planning to be in the lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday after missing two weeks with a hamstring injury.
So says Delia Enriquez of the Bronx Baseball Daily: "Teixeira’s slated to be at Tropicana Field tonight as an observer–and for a meeting with Girardi. However, he fully plans to come off the disabled list tomorrow and play first base for the Yankees for the first time since April 4th."
“Obviously we feel that he’s ready to go,” NY Yankees manager Joe Girardi says in the article. “We’ll talk about it tonight. I want to talk to him when he gets here, see how he’s feeling and then we’ll go from there.”
Mark Teixeira showed understandable frustration after suffering his hamstring injury against the Toronto Blue Jays two weeks ago, especially after taking a long road to come back from a wrist injury just to play in 2014.
Teixeira isn't worried about his wrist any longer. Rather, he seems to feel like the extra off time was good for it --
“I think it’s been good for the wrist, I do,” Teixeira stated. “Spring training was long and grueling and I definitely didn’t want to take 15 days off, but I take a positive in everything that happens. And that’s the positive that I’ll take from this is that my wrist got stronger.”
