Yankees rumors are buzzing over the breaking news that New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez has dropped his lawsuit against Major League Baseball, Bud Selig, and the MLBPA, and it seems that MLB officials are beyond pleased with the outcome.
According to ESPN and Baseball Insider analyst Jerry Crasnick's Twitter account, Major League Baseball is very happy with the Yankees' slugger and his legal team for coming to this conclusion--"MLB releases a statement saying A-Rod made a "prudent decision'' in dropping his Biogenesis lawsuit."
The controversy first arose on January 11th with arbitrator Fredric Horowitz reduced Alex Rodriguez's suspension from 211 games to 162 games, but levied the judgment that A-Rod had both interfered with the investigation into his purported role in the Biogenesis steroid scandal, along with several other damning judgments that prompted Horowitz to keep the suspension at one full season.
The New York Yankees' maligned star and his legal team filed a counter-lawsuit just two days later, citing both a mishandling of the case by the Players' Association, and what he and his lawyers felt to be a "witch hunt" by MLB commissioner Bud Selig and Major League Baseball.
There is still a slight possibility that A-Rod could appear at the Yankees Spring Training complex in Tampa, Florida on February 14th, as baseball's drug rules only count regular season and postseason games, exempting all Spring Training contests.
