New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia missed most of last season with a knee injury, but he said he still expects to return to his 2012 ace form this season.
"Not being able to play and perform last year was tough," Sabathia said. "Sitting at home, watching these guys play was hard. I'm appreciating every little moment. I'm just excited to go out there and be 100-percent and not feel anything. I don't think as an athlete you should lower your expectations. I think you just go out and see what I got...If I can stay there, I think I'll be all right."
Sabathia went 14-13 in his last full season in 2013, but called that performance "horrible." He didn't fare much better in 2014, posting a 3-4 mark with a 5.28 ERA before hurting his knee in July.
He is projected to be the third man in the Yankees starting pitching rotation behind Masahiro Tanaka and Michael Pineda.
Sabathia has two years and $48 million left on his deal.
