The New York Yankees don't exactly know where they're going to use returning slugger Alex Rodriguez during the 2015 MLB season, and it appears manager Joe Girardi is keeping his options wide open when it comes to slotting A-Rod into the team's starting lineup.
Per Mark Townsend of Yahoo! Sports, "Rodriguez was spotted taking infield practice at first base on Friday, which would be an entirely new position for the 20-year veteran."
Girardi may be grasping at straws to find room for the oft-maligned A-Rod with many believing that Rodriguez will be relegated to platoon DH work when all is said and done in 2015.
However, the Yankees skipper wants to give first base a spin in camp and see if the 38-year-old can handle his new environs.
"I don't know if and when I will do it, but I do want to get a look at it," manager Joe Girardi said of using Rodriguez at first base in a real game. "We're going to do it, but we're going to see how he feels, continue to talk to him, make sure he feels comfortable."
