Yankees News: No major injuries for Yankees on Opening Day, unlike last season

Yankees news was besieged early last season with a host of injuries prior to Opening Day -- which makes the NY Yankees' relatively clean bill of health going into the 2014 MLB Regular Season that much sweeter for the team.

Prior to Opening Day of the 2013 season, the NY Yankees had already lost Curtis Granderson, Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, Phil Hughes, and Mark Teixeira to injury. This was followed by losing Francisco Cervelli, Kevin Youkilis, and Travis Hafner within two months, along with losing Brett Gardner for the last three weeks of the campaign.

However, aside from a calf problem which has been hampering center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury a little bit (he will start Tuesday, regardless), the NY Yankees come into the 2014 season in almost exactly optimal shape.

All of this is music to the ears of NY Yankees captain Derek Jeter, who struggled mightily with an ankle injury all of last season -- limiting him to just 17 games.

"Everything I came to do I did," Jeter stated in an interview with the New York Post. "Now it's time to get going. I feel good."

Which is all the future Major League Baseball Hall-of-Famer seems to be asking for in the beginning of his 20th and final season with the Yankees.
