Ten days after his agreement with the New York Yankees was made public, infielder Stephen Drew has finally signed on the dotted line of a one-year, $5 million contract, putting him in line to be the team's starting second baseman on Opening Day.
The actual agreement was reached on January 6th, and was finally officially announced on Friday after he passed a team physical.

Per an Associated Press report, "outfielder Eury Perez was designated for assignment to clear room for Drew on the 40-man roster."
Drew, 31, was acquired by the Yankees in a rare trade with the Boston Red So on July 31. He hit just .150 with three homers and 15 RBIs in his 155 plate appearances for New York, but the Yankees remain hopeful that his bat will return to compliment his defensive versatility.
The Yankees are also offering up to $1.5 million in performance bonuses to Drew if he can eclipse the 450, 500, and 55o plate appearance benchmarks.
