The New York Yankees added some bullpen depth on Wednesday, promoting left-hander Jose De Paula from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
In a corresponding move, the Yankees optioned 25-year-old right-hander Jose Ramirez to Triple-A.
"He's a guy that can give us distance," manager Joe Girardi said of De Paula on Wednesday, via MLB.com. "He's a guy that has some experience. He's been starting down there. He's stretched out. We're without Cap for, you have to assume at least three days probably. We needed somebody who could give us some real distance."
De Paula posted a 2-0 record with a 1.53 ERA in three starts. He'll likely slot in as a long relief option for Girardi.
