The New York Yankees have been linked to Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels ever since he was placed on the trade block, but it doesn't appear GM Brian Cashman is willing to give up what Phillies GM Ruben Amaro is looking for.
Per Ricky Doyle of NESN, "Yankees people shot down the rumor that New York is thinking more about trading for Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels in the wake of Tanaka’s injury, according to CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman."
"Not looking,” one Yankees insider reportedly said.
Heyman also added that Yankees people are wondering if Hamels is still the "ace" everyone thinks he is or if he's just a big name who happens to throw left-handed.
The three-time All-Star is 1-2 with a 3.19 ERA through his first five starts of the 2015 MLB season.
