The New York Yankees are looking for a long-term solution at second base via the trade market, and it seems like they have shifted their focus to a potential acquisition of the Los Angeles Angels' Howie Kendrick.
Per Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, "the Yankees and Blue Jays are among teams that have called about Kendrick, who is believed to have received more interest than Freese. The Nats and A's are among other teams that may address second base."
New York is currently looking at moves that can bolster them at second, shortstop, and third base. Kendrick has historically crushed Yankees pitching, so it only seems natural that they'd be interested in putting some pinstripes on him.
In order to secure Kendrick, two things would likely have to happen. First, the Yankees would have to find the right relief pitcher to send an Angels team that has zeroed in on their bullpen as an area for improvement this offseason.
Secondly, the Angels would likely have to go all-in on 2014 acquisition Gordon Beckahm. If Los Angeles feels strongly that he can be their second baseman of the future, the wheels of a potential trade scenario with the Yankees may get some needed grease.
