The New York Yankees lost out in the Yoan Moncada sweepstakes to the rival Boston Red Sox, and they also couldn't nail down either Yasmany Tomas or Rusney Castillo. However, none of this is stopping New York from dipping back into the talented pool of Cuban players, with speedy second baseman Andy Ibanez the latest to land on the Yankees' radar.
As reported by George King III of the NY Post, the Yankees were one of several teams who watched Ibanez during his showcase in Miami recently.

Per King, "an industry source said Ibanez could command a $6 million signing bonus. Another one said it could be more in the $7 million-to-$10 million range, and the Dodgers appear to be the front-runners."
The Yankees have been looking for a long-term solution at second base for some time now, with Stephen Drew providing a bandaid for now and Rob Refsnyder struggling mightily with errors at Triple-A.
Yet, while New York watched Ibanez work out, that doesn't mean he's a sure target at this juncture. But, stay tuned.
