New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner was asked point blank by legendary Yankees announcer Michael Kay recently about whether or not he's considered selling the team at any point.
Steinbrenner, taking a page from his late father, answered with a solid quip:
“Michael, you know me well enough and long enough, what is my lifestyle? I love my ’67 Firebird, but how many can I buy? It’s not us.
“No, it’s not enticing in any way shape or form. It’s a family business. Many of us are involved from the family and we know this is what our dad would want, to carry on the tradition. We’re not going anywhere.”
A lot of the speculation about a potential future sale started when Forbes Magazine valued team at $3.2 billion recently -- tops amongst all Major League Baseball teams. However, regardless of the potential money Steinbrenner could make on a sale, it appears he's pretty dang content keeping things inside the family.
