The New York Yankees are the front-runner to land 19-year-old Cuban infielder Yoan Moncada, a middle infielder that would've been the No. 1 pick in the MLB Draft. However, he's a free agent because he's from Cuba.
The bidding for Moncada is expected to be in the tens of millions. New York expected to go all out for him, like they did for Masahiro Tanaka a year ago.
Since the Yankees have exceeded their international pool base, there is no limit to how much they can spend on Moncada.
He is expected to start his career in the minors, but with how much the Yankees (or the team that signs him) are going to need to spend, Moncada should be in the big leagues sooner rather than later.
