The New York Yankees' front office may not want to admit it, but slugger Alex Rodriguez is now just three home runs away from a massive historical milestone.
Alex Rodriguez crushed his third home run of the season on Friday night in the second inning of the team's road matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays - his 657th career bomb and one that puts him just three home runs behind Willie Mays for fourth on the all-time home run list.
Hit off of Tampa Bay's Nathan Karns, the 471-foot moon shot is the longest home run in Major League Baseball this season. With the run scored, Alex Rodriguez added yet another historical footnote to his career by passing Derek Jeter for the 10th-most runs scored in baseball history.
