Taking a break from the glut of Yankees trade rumors that dominate the news at this time of year, today we bring to you a potential new destination for the recently-released Alfonso Soriano.
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, Soriano could very well find himself facing off with the Yankees during a tense AL East pennant race in the second half of the season:
Sources :#BlueJays checked on Alfonso Soriano. Encarnacion, Lind, Lawrie still on DL. Soriano said to be mulling his options.

The Yankees acquired Soriano from the Chicago Cubs at the trade deadline last season, assuming his $18 million per year salary in the process. Things did not go as planned for Soriano in his second stint in the Bronx, especially in light of him posting the worst WAR (-1.5) of his MLB career in 2014 while hitting just .221 for the Yanks in 67 games.
New York designated the 38-year-old for assignment back on July 6th, with no team claiming him or offering a trade in the ten-day window the team had to make a move. Thus, Soriano is now free to explore other options, with the Blue Jays emerging as a potential favorite to land him at a reduced rate.
