New York Yankees Rumors: 'Yankees will not be outbid' for the services of Masahiro Tanaka

The New York Yankees rumors are coming on strong with less than a month until pitchers and catchers report to the Yankee Spring Training complex in Tampa, Florida. Masahiro Tanaka seems to be right in the center of those rumors.

The New York Times reports that "there is a feeling in some circles that the Yankees will not be outbid" for the services of the Japanese ace. This runs contrary to earlier reports that the New York Yankees were looking to stay under their imposed luxury-tax threshold of $189 million.

Masahiro Tanaka went 24-0 with a 1.27 ERA for the Japan Series champion Rakuten Golden Eagles. The Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox, and Arizona Diamondbacks have all been linked to Tanaka. If the New York Yankees are looking to prove the rumors true, The NY Times reports they will most likely need to offer "more than $100 million over at least six years."

The Yankees are in desperate need of front-line starting pitching, and it is starting to look likely that Tanaka will be first on their shopping list.
