The New York Yankees still have issues to take a look at in their starting rotation, especially when it comes to the health of CC Sabathia's injured right knee.
However, it doesn't appear that they're chomping at the bit to break the bank on a top-tier free agent like former Kansas City Royals ace James Shields just yet.
Per Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, "the Yankees, Tigers and Angels are among the teams with questions in their rotation, but none has been linked to Shields, who received a qualifying offer from the Royals and would cost any new team a draft pick in addition to salary."
Shields is said to have a $110 million offer on the table from a mystery team, and as has happened before, the Yankees could very well end up being that mystery team. However, the 33-year-old righty is reportedly looking for more guaranteed money, and it's unclear at this juncture if New York will be one of the teams willing to play ball with his demands.
