In the world of New York Yankees rumors tonight, a crowded New York Yankees outfield may be pushing a future Hall-of-Famer out the door in the Bronx.
USA Today sports spoke with New York Yankees outfielder Ichiro Suzuki, who shared his reaction over the NY Yankees' signing of Brett Gardner to a 4-year, $52 million contract extension through 2018--
"I don't get frustrated or angry. I just kind of feel like, my reaction was, 'Oops.' I do have goals and dreams about certain things, but when you get into the late 30s, you just have to take it year by year."
While Ichiro isn't angry with the New York Yankees' current plans, that doesn't mean that he isn't looking out for himself, and perhaps for a possible trade if the right situation comes up: "Obviously with the addition, I'm going to have to find a place for myself...My job up to this point was to come here healthy, in good shape, and that's what I did. And so I'm here, and we'll see where it goes."
The New York Yankees' 13-year MLB veteran is just 256 hits shy of reaching the 3,000-hit plateau in the Majors, after posting 1278 hits in nine seasons with the Orix Blue Wave of the Japan Pacific League.
However, Ichiro Suzuki is scheduled to make $6.5 million for the New York Yankees this season, and his substandard .262/.297/.342 line in 2013 could prompt the New York Yankees into facilitating a deal for the 40-year-old outfielder.
