Embattled New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez is seeking help from some of the greatest hitters of the so-called "steroid era" as he attempts to make a full return from his season-long ban in 2014.
"Alex has consulted numerous former players and coaches as he continues to work towards spring training, including most recently Edgar Martinez, who worked with him last week in Miami,” Ron Berkowitz, Rodriguez's spokesman, said in a statement via the New York Post.
Berkowitz added that the polarizing Barry Bonds was another of the “numerous former players” A-Rod has consulted, which confirms a report by The San Francisco Chronicle that two of the most controversial figure of baseball's last boom period are working together.
It's important to note that Bonds has never been officially disciplined by Major League Baseball for any offense related to PEDs, and has stayed in the good graces of the commissioner's office as a spring-training instructor for the San Francisco Giants last season.
