Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees may have missed the whole season due to an injured left ankle that was broken twice. But last Friday, he had his protective boot already removed and he is set to throw again.
However, the All Star shortstop said that he is to go through another CT scan in a matter of a week and a half in Florida. This is required before his formal permission to return to the field can be granted. When this happens, he will be playing for his 19th season in his pinstripes uniform.
Jeter said that he won’t be putting any date on it since it did not work the last he did so. His exact words instead: “As soon as I can play, I’ll play.”
Jeter also said that he was not surprised that the replacements made like Vernon Wells and Travis Hafner along with the others have done pretty well. All of them helped in one way or another the Yankees to get a 30-21 record even if there were two losses to the Mets during the early part of this week.
However, it can still be considered an odd year without Jeter’s leadership on the field.
