Here's an encouraging bit from the NY Yankees rumors file to help get your weekend started off on the right foot--NY Yankees' ace CC Sabathia is feeling better than ever on the mound at the NY Yankees Spring Training complex in Tampa, Florida.
Speaking with reporters on Friday, CC Sabathia shared the optimism he gained from working with Dr. James Andrews this offseason to analyze his pitching mechanics--
“It’s just strength...I’ve been doing a lot of long toss this year, and like I said, I threw all offseason. I’m ahead of where I was last spring, maybe even the spring before, just from all the work I’ve been doing. I’m encouraged by the way I feel. My arm angle seems to be good, getting the ball out. My arm just needs to catch up with the rest of my body.”
The NY Yankees' six-time MLB All-Star originally saw Dr. James Andrews in 2003 to have his pitching mechanics analyzed and stored in the doctor's database. However, at Sabathia puts it, it was "everybody's" idea to have him go back this season to look at his approach.
Sabathia struggled physically and performance-wise last year, posting the highest ERA (4.78) of his 13-year career in 2013--along with giving up 112 runs for the worst mark in the American League.
After seeing Andrews this offseason, the NY Yankees superstar was asked if he felt like he was back to his old, dominating self--"Pretty much, except the rotation in my hips. You get old. You get bad hips when you get old, right?”
