Andruw Jones came into Thursday’s game against Toronto batting .195 with four homeruns in 36 games, but started the second half off in a big way. Jones went 2-3 with two homeruns and four RBIs in the Yankees 16-7 loss.
The last time Jones went deep twice in one game was also against Toronto on May 25. In fact, three of his six homeruns this season have gone off Blue Jays pitcher Jo-Jo Reyes.
Jones, who has been the fourth outfielder most of the season, got the start as DH Thursday for the sixth time this season; however, in the 8th inning Jones was lifted for the pinch hitter Jorge Posada.
Jones is now hitting .483 against Toronto and may play again as the Yankees face Lefty Ricky Romero on Saturday
