Paraguayan play-maker Oscar Romero has been the subject of much speculation recently, including persistent links to MLS. Those links - most persuasively to Seattle Sounders, but also including mention of the New York Red Bulls - were severed by the revelation the player himself had turned down the chance to move to North America.
Reportedly, an ambitious MLS team met Racing Club's valuation of the player, offering $10 million. It was suggested the offer was accepted by the club, but not by Romero.
In an interview with Nicolas Montala, reporting for Argentine outlet Ole, Romero confirms the story.
