FC Dallas strolled into Red Bull Arena on Saturday evening with a seven-game unbeaten streak and a stranglehold on second place in the MLS’s Western Conference. They also played most of the game with one more player than the Red Bulls.
None of that seemed to matter much.
The Red Bulls survived a first-half red card to midfielder Daniel Royer and calmly dispatched FC Dallas 3-0, as two first-half strikes put the game in control for the home team.
After a cagey first quarter of the match, the Red Bulls found a breakthrough via its youngest star.
