The New York Red Bulls released defender Shawn McLaws after the right back made zero appearances for the first team in 2015.
McLaws was drafted by the Red Bulls in the 3rd round, with the 59th overall pick of the 2015 Major League Soccer Superdraft. Prior to being drafted by the Red Bulls, McLaws was a four year defensive standout for the Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers.
In 2014, McLaws was named Big South Defensive Player of the Year. During college, he also featured for USL PDL side Ocean City Nor'easters in 2013 and 2014.
