Real Salt Lake defender Chris Wingert and Red Bulls defender Kemar Lawrence battle for the ball in the first half.
The Red Bulls extended their home unbeaten streak and climbed into first place Saturday, but don’t expect them to celebrate this one. It was a desultory scoreless draw against Real Salt Lake that felt more like a golden opportunity wasted.
Sure, the Red Bulls (2-1-1, seven points) ran their home unbeaten streak to 16 straight and moved a point ahead of Atlanta and Orlando atop the Eastern Conference. But they will rue not taking the full three points from a Real Salt Lake squad that was in disarray, coach-less and winless.
