HARRISON, N.J. (August 19, 2016) – New York Red Bulls II became the first USL team to clinch a birth in the 2016 USL playoffs on Friday night with a 1-0 win over Louisville City FC at Red Bull Arena. Brandon Allen converted a penalty kick to give New York the win.
NYRB II is now 15-3-5 on the season and 6-2-4 at home. NYRB II sits atop the Eastern Conference, three points ahead of Louisville City FC.
With the game scoreless in the 70th minute, NYRB II forward Junior Flemmings was taken down at the edge of the penalty area.
