MONTCLAIR – The New York Red Bulls U-23 team battled back against FC Motown to advance to the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday night at MSU Soccer Park. Red Bulls U-23s advanced to the second round by winning a PK shootout after a 4-4 draw.
The U-23s surrendered a two-goal lead in the second half after a weather delay, with FC Motown finding the equalizer in the 71st minute. Each team then scored during extra time to send the match to PKs.
Red Bulls U-23 coach Simon Nee did not have a chance to have a full practice with his squad, as many players are still in the midst of returning home from college.
