Tony Meola's reign as head coach and technical director of Jacksonville Armada has been cut short. The former New York Red Bulls (and, mostly, MetroStars) 'keeper was relieved of his duties on Sunday, August 7 after a disappointing week for the Armada.
The NASL club followed last weekend's 1-0 loss to Fort Lauderdale Strikers with a 5-2 loss to Indy Eleven in midweek, and a 2-2 draw with Carolina Railhawks on Saturday, August 6. As noted in the official release announcing Meola's departure, Jacksonville's current six-game winless streak is a club record.
