Mexico needs to win this game to stifle the threat that Jamaica might sneak in and take top spot in Group B. And if the Reggae Boyz start to rack up the goals in their group-stage finale against Saint Martin, El Tri might need to score a few more in this one, just to stay ahead of Jamaica on goal difference.
Since Mexico is currently nine goals ahead of Jamaica on goal difference, and given the fact Aruba lost its last game 7-1 - to the Reggae Boyz, as it happens - it’s unlikely El Tri is too perturbed about the possibility of coughing up its presumptive place in the next round of this tournament.
