The Homegrown defender is set for a six to nine-month layoff just after cementing his place in the first team.

The New York Red Bulls announced Tuesday that Connor Lade has torn his ACL and will be out for the remainder of the 2016 season. Lade, who was substituted in the 32nd minute of the team's game against L.A. after going down in pain, will undergo surgery later this month to repair the tear in his right knee.

In a statement from the player in response to the news, Lade said, "(T)he work has already begun to come back stronger than ever.
