Australian international midfielder Tim Cahill wants to remain in the Chinese Super League (CSL) despite his shock exit from Shanghai Shenhua.
The former Everton and New York Red Bulls star joined Shenhua last year, and was reportedly earning $10 million in salary.
Despite signing a contract extension in November after scoring 11 goals in 28 matches for the CSL giants, the club terminated his contract to make way for Nigerian international striker Obafemi Martins.
Cahill took to social media to announce the shocking news and said that he was "very sad" that he was no longer part of coach Gregorio Manzano's plans.
