Bradley Wright-Phillips has been in this scoring hot seat before

Bradley Wright-Phillips won’t make excuses if he doesn’t score as often this year.

How Wright-Phillips, the Red Bulls’ two-time MLS Golden Boot winner, adapts this season remains to be seen in the absence of playmaker Sacha Kljestan, who was shipped to Orlando City for forward Carlos Rivas and defender Tommy Redding.

Midfielder Alejandro “Kaku” Romero Gamarra is expected to make up some of Kljestan’s production, but asking him to replace the league’s assists leader the past two seasons may be a stretch.

How Kaku’s game immediately translates to the Red Bulls is unknown. But for Wright-Phillips, his job doesn’t change.
