There were two Australians in the starting lineup on the night the New York Red Bulls clinched their first-ever trophy. Against Chicago Fire on October 27, 2013, Tim Cahill and David Carney helped guide RBNY to a 5-2 win and the Supporters' Shield. They are, per MetroFanatic.com, the only two Australians to have played for RBNY (or MetroStars).
Cahill was the team's top-scorer and MVP that season. Carney was a late-season arrival who stepped in to hold down the left back spot after an injury to Roy Miller.
