With playoffs on horizon, Rangers playing it safe on injury front

As often happens this time of year, the Rangers have a couple of injuries they are going to let heal in their regular-season finale rather than push it.

Forwards Mats Zuccarello and Viktor Stalberg were both suffering from lower-body injuries, and neither will play against the Red Wings on Saturday afternoon at the Garden. Coach Alain Vigneault said Stalberg would not have been able to play and Zuccarello would have been “less than 50-50 if we were able to push it.”

As for the upcoming first-round playoff series, which will start on the road either Wednesday or Thursday, Vigneault said both players “should be fine.
