Scoring 50 goals in a season is a standard everyone can agree on. Only elite snipers can do it and it is hard to get to that number in the current NHL. This season there are eight players on pace to score 50 goals. While that number will inevitably drop, 2018-19 could be the first time since 2011-12 that there has been more than one 50-goal scorer. Also, Alex Ovechkin is the only NHL player to accomplish the feat since 2012 (he’s done it three times).
There’s one sure thing…a New York Ranger won’t do it. Only three Rangers have scored 50 or more goals in a season.
