The New York Rangers and the rest of the National Hockey League were waiting for the first shoe to drop on this year’s NHL trade deadline and it was a very big shoe at that.
Center Matt Duchene has been traded by the Ottawa Senators along with minor league defenseman Julius Bergman to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

In return the Senators will receive forward prospects Vitaly Abramov and Jonathan Davidsson plus their 2019 first round pick, which will be lottery protected.
