At 81st overall, Sean Day was the New York Rangers’ first pick of the 2016 NHL Draft.
The 6’2, 224 lb. defenseman was granted exemption status to play in the OHL, beginning his junior career at just 15 years of age. He played three seasons for the Mississauga Steelheads, including a six-goal, 22-point 2015-16 season.
After leaving the Rangers’ training camp at the start of this season, Day played another five games for the Steelheads. He got off to a pretty good start in them, too, scoring three goals and five points to be a point-per-game player.
