Just a quick update:
Dan Girardi did not skate in today’s well-attended optional practice and will not play Tuesday vs. Edmonton because of swelling in his knee (he blocked a shot in the third period in Vancouver and the knee swelled … and the Rangers had no extra defenseman due to cap space, so Girardi played two games on that knee).
No matter who they call up, Ryan McDonagh likely will have to play right side on the top pair, unless Alain Vigneault trusts Dan Boyle or Dylan McIlrath to play that role … which is doubtful, IMO.
