The Rangers knew they would have some tough decisions to make, and two veteran forwards ended up being the casualties.
Both Tanner Glass and Nathan Gerbe were placed on waivers Friday, and both cleared and were assigned to AHL Hartford on Saturday.
“After carefully evaluating training camp and the performances, we felt at this time there were some wingers that were ahead of both those guys,” coach Alain Vigneault said after the team’s practice at Chelsea Piers on Saturday. “Tanner brings us a different element, an element of toughness. Grebe brings us an element of skill. But when we evaluated all of the positions, we felt for now this was the right thing to do.
