EDMONTON, Alberta — Tony DeAngelo insisted “no explanation [was] needed” for him being a healthy scratch Monday night against the Oilers.
The Rangers defenseman had been solid while playing 17 straight games since he was last in street clothes for a pair of games due to what coach David Quinn termed a “maturity issue,” but just over a month later, he was back to playing spectator.
“He gave me a small reason to take him out,” Quinn said before the Rangers dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Oilers. “He’s made a lot of progress and a lot of strides and we’ve all watched what he’s done on the ice.
