The date is now set for another night of historic revelry at the Garden, as the Rangers announced that Vic Hadfield’s No. 11 will be raised to the rafters on Sunday, Dec. 2, before a game against the Jets.
The honor had been announced in February, on the night Jean Ratelle’s No. 19 got its long-overdue hoisting to the famous pinwheeled ceiling. With Hadfield up there, the so-called GAG line (for “Goal A Game”) of the late 1960s and early 1970s will be together again, joining Ratelle and Rod Gilbert (No. 7).
“As a player, Vic Hadfield embodied the heart, soul, and determination of a New York Ranger,” team President Glen Sather said in a statement.
