The AHL announced that Wolf Pack forward Vinni Lettieri will be joining Joey Keane and Kris Knoblauch for the AHL’s All-Star festivities. Lettieri is replacing goaltender Igor Shesterkin, who is currently with the Rangers.
Perhaps the Rangers’ refusal to send Shesterkin down is a smart move by the team. It may seem obvious, but now the Rangers can guarantee Shesterkin not risking injury during the AHL All-Star competitions next week. And with the ever-present possibility of a goalie being traded, it is imperative that the Rangers take no risks with the young Russian.
As for Lettieri, the forward has posted 35 points (18G, 17A) in 42 games this season.
