Sergei Zubov played only three seasons for the New York Rangers before he was traded in one of the most misguided transactions in team history. He was a key component of the 1994 team that won the Stanley Cup and after he was dealt, he went on to play 12 years for Dallas as one of the best defensemen in the league.
Zubov had been overlooked for years, despite career numbers that made him not only one of the greatest Russian players to make it to the NHL, but also one of the best defensemen of his era.
