Former Ranger Sergei Zubov has been elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame as part of the 2019 class. The Blueshirts’ fifth round pick (85th overall, so he’d be a third rounder nowadays) in 1990, Zubov’s career with the Rangers was short but impactful. In 165 games with the Rangers, he put up a line of 30-126-156. This includes a line of 12-77-89, leading the Rangers in points in 1993-1994.
The Rangers foolishly dealt Zubov with Petr Nedved to Pittsburgh in 1995, bringing back Ulf Samuelsson and Luc Robitaille. A year later he was dealt to Dallas for Kevin Hatcher.
