Ryan Spooner misses game vs. Sabres with lower-body injury

Ryan Spooner, who had been playing better of late after being moved to the second line, missed Sunday's game against the Sabres with a lower-body issue that coach David Quinn said wasn't a big deal.

Spooner, who scored his first goal of the season last week in Los Angeles, was looking comfortable on the right wing with center Kevin Hayes and Chris Kreider. But he was unable to practice on Saturday because of the injury.

“Nothing serious, nothing long term,’’ Quinn said of Spooner, who has just one goal and one assist in 12 games this season.
