The Riveters staged a late-game comeback, but fell to the Connecticut Whale 4-3.
The New York Riveters took on the Connecticut Whale less than a week after their fracas-filled blowout loss last Sunday. They would have to play with a shortened bench, with Elena Orlando being suspended for one game, and Ashley Johnston, Madison Packer, and Taylor Holze out with injuries.
Nana Fujimoto got the start for the Riveters in net, and was tested early by the hot Connecticut Whale. Just 2:04 into the first period, Shiann Darkangelo fired an innocent shot from the top left point that tipped off Fujimoto’s outstretched glove and over her shoulder into the net.
