Coming off of a 7-3 defeat at the hands of the Tampa Bay Lightning, the New York Rangers rebounded this evening with a 2-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Henrik Lundqvist, who got the start just 24 hours after winning the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award, made 40 saves and kept the Rangers afloat for most of the night.
Early on in this game, both teams came right out of the gates with multiple scoring chances with the Hurricanes leading in shots 13-11. Unfortunately, neither team was able to make the most of their opportunities and the game remained scoreless heading into the second period.
