VANCOUVER, British Columbia — The Rangers apparently will not recall a seventh defenseman to be on standby for back-to-back games in Edmonton and Calgary on Friday and Saturday, respectively, even though that was the plan before the team left New York on Monday for the start of their current three-game Western Conference trip.
“I will talk to [general manager] Jeff [Gorton] after the game,” coach Alaian Vigneault said before the Rangers’ 2-1 loss to the Canucks on Wednesday night. “But we’re healthy, so at this time we’re not going to bring anyone up.”
The Blueshirts, who are carrying one spare forward (Emerson Etem, scratched for the second straight game after missing two with an illness) are counting pennies as applied to the cap.
