My early story for lohud.com:
NEW YORK – The Rangers needed a call-up from Hartford to replace Daniel Paille, who cleared waivers on Sunday and was assigned to the AHL Wolf Pack.
But Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said that the scouting party that went to watch Hartford’s game Saturday – GM Jeff Gorton and associate coach Scott Arniel, and assistant coach Ulf Samuelsson, whose son played in the game – was there for some general intel, as well.
The Rangers recalled winger Marek Hrivik, 24, who was to make his NHL debut Sunday night in the Rangers’ first meeting of three this season with the Detroit Red Wings at the Garden.
