Rangers trade Reilly Smith to Golden Knights for prospect, pick

The Vegas Golden Knights are reuniting with a familiar face, acquiring forward Reilly Smith from the New York Rangers on Thursday in exchange for prospect Brendan Brisson and a third-round draft choice, sources confirmed to ESPN.

New York is also retaining 50% of Smith's $3.75 million cap hit in the transaction, sources confirmed to ESPN amid multiple media reports.

Smith previously played for Vegas from 2017-2023 and was part of the Stanley Cup championship team in 2023. He was traded that summer to the Pittsburgh Penguins and then to the Rangers the following offseason.
